Covid-19 Community Response and Recovery Grant
In recognition of the vital role played by the voluntary, community and faith sector in both the response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the recovery, this time limited fund has been developed by the council to support local organisations through this pandemic.
The aim of the Covid-19 community response and recovery fund is to support these organisations to adapt to new ways of offering support to communities, both during and following the coronavirus pandemic, as well as maintain and continue to offer services as government restrictions are lifted.
Not-for-profit organisations are able to apply for a grant up to a maximum of £5,000 for projects and services for both response and recovery-type applications. The response-type applications include additional staffing, DBS checks, volunteer expenses, meal delivery services, food bank services and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Recovery-type applications include supporting employment, mental health support, hardship funds, financial advice, supporting connectivity and building community resilience.

Magic Little Grants Fund
Localgiving is working with Postcode Community Trust, a grant-giving charity funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, to offer charitable organisations the opportunity to apply for over 900 grants of £500.
The Magic Little Grants Fund provides charitable organisations the opportunity to access funding to deliver engaging physical activities which help to overcome barriers to participation.
Successful organisations will receive an annual membership with Localgiving funded by Postcode Community Trust. This membership will give them access to the Localgiving online fundraising platform, regular fundraising competitions and expert fundraising advice.

Barclays Fund
Barclays has announced the launch of the Barclays Foundation, initially to provide a £100million COVID !9 support fund.
Component 1 - Charity Partners Programme
- A £50 million fund.
- Disbursed principally in the UK, but also in some of our international markets such as the US and India, in part reflecting where our most significant colleague population centres are.
- Funding deployed via partnerships with trusted charities who can have a direct and immediate impact on the communities we wish to help in those geographies.
- Funding to be targeted at programmes as local to our major locations as possible – the places where our colleagues live and work, and where they can potentially help directly.
- The money will be used to help disadvantaged people (those suffering from social and economic deprivation as a consequence of COVID-19), the elderly and vulnerable communities most at risk from COVID-19, and to support NHS staff and other keyworker communities.
Component 2 – Employee Matched Donations Programme
- A £50 million commitment.
- Barclays will match an individual colleague’s donations to charities working to support vulnerable people impacted by COVID-19, and in alleviating the associated social and economic hardship caused by the crisis.
- A colleague may select a charity of his or her choice for their donation and matching programme, provided the charity is officially registered, and is engaged in supporting communities impacted by COVID-19.
- Un-utilised corporate funds (any balance of the £50 million) at the end of 12 months would be deployed to the Charity Partners Programme so that Barclays meets its overall public commitment of a £100 million contribution to COVID-19 Community Aid.
Sport England Community Emergency Fund
- For those clubs/organisations in immediate and most need
- Organisations experiencing short term financial problems or ceasing operations – this includes sports clubs, organisations in the voluntary and community sector. Any organisations that work to deliver or enable sport and physical activity. This includes sports leagues.
- It will fund – rent, bills, insurance, facilities & equipment hire, core staffing.
- Can cover retrospective loses back to 1st of March
- Before applying all government options for support must have been explored and to be not eligible.
- Will not fund commercial providers, local authorities, education sector, self employed or individuals usually employed by someone else.
- This can’t fund activity costs covered by government funding, new activities/events, capital works or anything at present beyond July 31st 2020.
- This funding option will be reviewed in coming weeks to ensure criteria remains fair based on changes to other funding etc.

Arts Council England Emergency Response Fund for Organisations

Association of Mental Health Providers - Coronavirus Mental Health Response Fund
Voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations have a vital role working alongside our NHS colleagues to support anyone who has a mental health problem.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, demand for mental health services is increasing. To help VCS organisations based in England continue to provide mental health services - or provide additional support - organisations can apply for a Coronavirus Mental Health Response Fund (CMHRF) grant. Thanks to £5m support from government (the Department of Health and Social Care), grants of £20,000 or £50,000 are available for projects lasting up to 12 months. Safer Communities Fund - Emergency Funding Available To Respond To Coronavirus
Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner David Keane has launched a new fund to help community organisations, voluntary groups and those in the non-for-profit sector support communities through the Coronavirus crisis.
The fund is part of PCC David Keane’s Safer Communities Fund and will be funded by money taken from Cheshire criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Grants of up to £1,000 are available for projects which are working alongside Cheshire police and local authorities to support vulnerable people in the community.
As an example, this could be projects which deliver emergency food parcels, provide care to those self-isolating or host virtual activities to relieve the pressures of social distancing on our mental and physical health.
The grants will be processed as quickly as possible to get funds to communities at this critical time.
Tesco Bags of Help Funding
Tesco Bags of Help is responding to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis by setting up a new short-term fund to support local communities. Due to the need to respond quickly to the emergency we have created a streamlined application process and payment process to make it easier to get funds distributed quickly. If your application is successful the fund will provide a single payment award of £500 to organisations who are supporting vulnerable groups. The programme is set up to support organisational need in this time of crisis rather than fund specific projects.

The National Lottery Community Fund
The National Lottery Community Fund are currently prioritising applications and ideas which support responses to the COVID-19 crisis and will be treating them as priority over the coming weeks

*Please note - Project dates for Awards for All applications - The start date must be at least 12 weeks after the date you submit your application (even if you intend to deliver your project sooner). A telephone call with the local funding officer is always advisable before you submit your application.
Grants are payable for periods of up to SIX MONTHS, so timescales for project cannot exceed this.
They will prioritise applications from:
- Organisations supporting people who are at high risk from COVID-19
- Organisations supporting communities most likely to face increased demand and challenges as a direct result of COVID-19
- Organisations with high potential to support communities with the direct and indirect impact of COVID-19
In the meantime, all applications, ideas at the first stage and funding proposals at the second stage are paused and will be re-visited later in the year. The Fund are making applicants aware of this decision and will be encouraging them to submit ideas for funding if their projects are responding to the COVID19 situation but otherwise their applications will be paused for now.

National Lottery Heritage Emergency Fund
The £50m fund will be available for grants of between £3,000 and £50,000.
It is available to organisations across the full breadth of heritage, including historic sites, industrial and maritime heritage, museums, libraries and archives, parks and gardens, landscapes and nature.
Organisations which have received funding in the past and are either a current grantee, or still under contract following a previous grant, can apply.
Priority will be given where:
· there is limited or no access to other sources of support
· where heritage is most at risk
· where an organisation is at risk of severe financial crisis due to COVID-19

The Heritage Emergency Fund (grants £3,000-£50,000 and £50,000-£250,000) is now open until 31 July 2020. This is the final deadline for applications. Further funding opportunities will be announced in July.
Steve Morgan Foundation

Our Covid-19 Response Grants Programme is for grants typically up to £10,000 * (level of funding increased as of 02-04-20).
It is open for applications from charitable organisations supporting the ongoing needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable people affected by the covid-19 outbreak, to ensure that their health and wellbeing is maintained. This includes CICs (with three unrelated Directors)
In addition, for this programme, we want to support small un-constituted emerging group who are responding positively to supporting disadvantaged communities affected by covid-19 at a very local level. If you can arrange for a larger charitable group to partner with you, for example (but not limited to) a church, another charity or community group, you can apply. The charitable organisation must be able to provide their annual accounts and have a bank account in their name. They must be willing to act as the lead organisation for the application and spend of the grant.
For this programme,Town and Parish Councils are also eligible to apply.
Types of activities that we can consider under the covid-19 Response Grants Programmes include (but are not limited to):-
• community response coordination to covid-19
• additional volunteer costs
• additional costs of working remotely and adapting services for disadvantaged and vulnerable people delivered in the wider community
•support for lonely and vulnerable people who are self-isolating.
•support in the wider community for foodbanks for families and vulnerable people and organisations working to combat child hunger

Charities Aid Foundation - Applications have been paused for this currently - updated 9th April.
Charities Aid Foundation has launched a small grants scheme for smaller charitable organisations. It’s for grants of up to £10,000 for smaller organisations affected by the virus outbreak.
They anticipate that there will be a high level of requests for support now and in the weeks ahead. They will do our best to manage this proactively and provide a rapid response to organisations which need support. However, they are going to have to prioritise grants, and may need to focus on:
- Charities, and other organisations, whose established charitable activities are at risk of being severely reduced to the detriment of vulnerable groups
- Organisations that are having to deliver core services in fundamentally different or unusual ways in order to respond to the crisis and still reach their beneficiaries
- Organisations that are deeply embedded with communities and have established networks to deliver their charitable activities
- Organisations experiencing current cashflow problems, rather than concerns that future income will be reduced.
Crisis - Emergency Grants fund
Crisis have launched an emergency grants fund of between £5,000 to £50,000 to support the work of organisations who support people that are homeless. The funding is restricted to assistance needed to cope with the impact of CV19 and will not fund wider funding gaps.
Aviva Community Fund
The COVID-19 outbreak is a challenging time for many. We know that now, more than ever, small charities need our support. That is why we have broadened the criteria of the Aviva Community Fund to include applications for projects that enable causes to adapt or continue their vital services by covering core running costs, so they can help their beneficiaries and communities during this time of need.

Power To Change - Emergency Scheme
What is the C-19 Emergency Trading Income Support Scheme?
The C-19 Emergency Trading Income Support Scheme provides emergency finance in the form of small grants to community businesses in England, as a contribution towards trading income lost as a result of COVID-19. We have dedicated £5 million to this scheme to support current and past grantees of Power to Change, and community businesses who are members of our core strategic partners Locality, Co-operatives UK, and Plunkett Foundation.
Is it open for applications?
Eligible Power to Change grantees and Cooperatives UK, Locality and Plunkett Foundation members will be invited to apply to the C-19 Emergency Trading Income Support Scheme.
Who can apply?
The C-19 C-19 Emergency Trading Income Support scheme will open for applications in two rounds in May across two weeks.
Round 1 opens 12 May 10am – the round will close when it reaches 150 applications. Around £3 million will be awarded to around 150 community businesses.
Round 2 opens 19 May 10am – we will be awarding around £2 million to 100 community businesses.
What can you apply for?
Community businesses accepted on to the scheme will receive a grant of up to £25,000 to contribute towards trading income lost between April to June 2020 as a result of COVID-19. The grant size will be calculated based on your trading income from April 2019 – March 2020, and will be equal to 25% of trading income for that period or £25,000 – whichever is lower.

Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund
- Airport Trust Fund encourages applications from organisations providing support during this pandemic
- Grants of up to £3k available
- Special meeting to be held to ensure speedy payment
Grassroots organisations helping communities through the Coronavirus lockdown can apply for grants through a special fund set up by Manchester Airport.
The Airport’s Community Trust Fund already supports scores of local groups every year, with grants to improve local communities.
In response to the ongoing impact, the Covid-19 pandemic is having on society, its trustees have agreed its next round of funding will be dedicated to organisations helping communities through the crisis.
Charities or not for profit organisations within a broadly 10-mile radius of the airport can lodge applications from today until a deadline of 26th May.
The Community Trust Fund will continue to operate as normal throughout the year, but will prioritise:
- Organisations supporting people who are at high risk from Covid-19
- Organisations supporting communities most likely to face increased demand and challenges as a direct result of Covid-19
- Organisations with high potential to support communities with the direct and indirect impact of Covid-19

Skillsmax can award up to £500 per Grant. An organisation (not for profit) / charity can make up to 4 claims per year – (quarterly / every 13 weeks) so they are not restricted to just one application.
There is no limit on the number of charities / not for profit organisations that can apply.

BBC - Children in Need
The Next Steps programme will open for applications from 10 June 2020.
The Next Steps programme is our response programme designed to deliver support for children and young people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible organisations will be able to apply for between £5,000 and £80,000 for projects commencing in September 2020. These grants can last up to 18 months. It is designed for established organisations who are already delivering work in their communities and further afield.
Who can apply?
The Next Steps programme will be for not-for-profit organisations within the UK who meet our Minimum Standards for Grantmaking. Your organisation must be registered with the appropriate regulatory body, such as your nation’s Charity Commission or Companies House (unless your organisation currently holds a BBC Children in Need grant).
We will not be accepting applications from educational institutions (including schools), prisons, hospitals or other statutory bodies.
Is this the right fund for your organisation?
These grants are designed to fund sustained responses to the COVID-19 situation. These projects can last up to 18 months and begin in September 2020. The fund will help organisations with more complex service adaption, including additional staffing requirements. It is designed to be as flexible as possible, covering a wide range of activities.

Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund
Working capital loans for charities and social enterprises experiencing disruption to their normal business model as a result of COVID-19.
The Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund, offered by Social Investment Business (SIB), has been expanded and improved to make more loans to charities and social enterprises affected by the coronavirus pandemic. It offers:
- Maximum loan amount now £1.5m (minimum still £100k)
- Interest-free & fee-free for the first 12 months
- Faster than applying for a standard loan
The Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund (RRLF) is a new emergency loan fund which will provide repayable finance to charities and social enterprises who are experiencing disruption as a result of COVID-19 and is intended for such organisations who have an otherwise viable business model. It has been established to make the Government’s existing Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) more easily accessible to these entities.
Is my organisation eligible?
This Fund is only for UK charities and social enterprises which fulfil the eligibility criteria of both the Fund and CBILS – the full list of eligibility criteria can be found on the SIB website and include:
- registered charities, community interest companies, community benefit societies – in line with Big Society Capital’s governance principles.
- have a minimum turnover of £400k.
- have been trading for a minimum of two years.
CBILS eligibility that applies to the fund includes that organisations must:
- be UK-based.
- have a turnover of less than £45m (whole group).
- have a minimum 50% of income from trading (registered charities and further education colleges are exempt from this requirement).
- self-certify they have been adversely affected by COVID-19.

The Assura Community Fund
Grants between £1000 to £5000 • within a 15-mile radius of an Assura Healthcare building (Chelford, Macclesfield, Crewe, Nantwich) • Deadline 14th September 2020
This programme will support health and wellbeing* projects for charitable organisations delivering services within a 15-mile radius of an Assura Healthcare building – click HERE to check your project activity location.
Cheshire Community Foundation is delighted to be working in partnership with Assura Plc to deliver this £550,000 grants programme to support health and wellbeing projects.
Minimum/Maximum grant size: £1000 to £5000 to be spent over one year

We reserve the right to close the programme early if we reach sufficient quantities and quality of applications sooner than the deadline – therefore groups are encouraged to start the process as soon as possible and apply early.
