  • Introductory courses:  £10 CVS members, £40 non-members

Introduction to Volunteer Management - Thursday 21st November, 10am-12pm on Zoom
This essential course will teach you the foundations of good volunteer management, policies and procedures you need in place, and common pitfalls to avoid when involving volunteers. Ideal for new volunteer managers and existing managers to ensure you are following best practice.

Volunteers and the Law - Thursday 28th November and Wednesday 4th December, 10am-12pm on Zoom
Do you know your legal responsibilities to your volunteers? This 2-part virtual course will help you understand legislation, volunteer agreements, how to avoid risk, and gain awareness of the common pitfalls facing volunteering for organisations.

Introduction to Safeguarding - Monday 2nd December, 6:30pm-8:30pm on Zoom
This 2-hour virtual session is designed to ensure that the people involved with your organisation understand what safeguarding is and how to deal with any safeguarding issues.

2025 Training

Understanding Dementia to better support in your voluntary role - Tuesday 14th January, 10am-12pm, Crewe
Delivered by the End of Life Partnership at the CVS office in Crewe, this free session will help volunteers and family carers understand Dementia in more depth. We will look at how Dementia may affect someone and help you to understand changes in perception, understand how the senses are affected, understand different communication, understand sundowning and delirium, and know where and when to access support.

Introduction to Trustee Roles and Responsibilities - Thursday 16th January, 10am-12pm on Zoom
This virtual session provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a trustee of a small group or charity. During this course you will have the opportunity to understand the different ways that a trustee can contribute to the organisation and the importance of the role in the governance of the charity.

Boundaries - Wednesday 29th January, 10am-12pm on Zoom
Can people be friends, can you exchange presents, can someone come to your house? This training will look at how staff and volunteers maintain professional boundaries with service users and with each other.

Advanced Grant Applications - Thursday 20th and 27th February, 10am-12pm on Zoom
This 2-part training will help you to target and develop your bids to maximise chances of funding success. This training will assess if you are applying for the right funding, understand how to enhance your applications and identify what factors can improve success of your bids.

Introduction to Grant Applications - Wednesday 19th March, 5:30pm-7:30pm on Zoom
Ideal for community and voluntary organisations who are new to grant funding or would like a refresher. This session will take you through the crucial steps you need to take to help you ensure your organisation has the best chance of success with your grant bids.

Introduction to Volunteer Management - Tuesday 8th April, 1pm-3pm on Zoom
Is your organisation volunteer ready? Come along and find out more about how your organisation can effectively involve volunteers. This short session is aimed at people who are new to managing volunteers or refresher training for existing volunteer managers.

CVS Bespoke and Private Training Sessions

If you would like to expand the skills, knowledge, abilities and agility of your team we've got you covered. We at CVS provide a variety of expert-led training opportunities, from requisite or essential training for people working or volunteering in the sector to specialist training in fields like grant writing and trusteeship. We hold both in-person and virtual training sessions (details found in each training description). Session costs available on request, with a substantial discount for CVS members!

We can provide bespoke training sessions for your organisation tailored to your specific needs. Bespoke sessions can be virtual or in-person or at a venue and times that are suitable for you.

 VCFSE Essentials Course

Do your volunteers and staff have the essential training to work in the VCFSE sector? This private course will guide you through the basic training for working or volunteering in the sector and will enable your team to work compliantly. It is also useful refresher training.

Please contact enquiries@cvsce.org.uk to arrange a session at a day and time suitable for you.
