Rachael's Volunteering Story
Volunteering is not only a great way to give back to your community, but it can also benefit you in many ways. Just ask Rachael, our Membership Support Officer, who volunteers as a Secretary for the Railway Cottages Residents Association.
For Rachael, volunteering is all about using her skills to make a positive impact on the community. "It's nice to give back to the community and help out using the skills I have," she says. Through her volunteer work, Rachael has not only met new people but also gained valuable knowledge about the history and heritage of the local area.
The benefits of volunteering don't stop there. Rachael has also become more confident in talking to new people and reporting back efficiently. She explains, "It benefits me as I have gained increased knowledge of the local area and how heritage is preserved through developments which has been very relevant considering the changes going on locally in the town."
Rachael believes that others should consider volunteering for similar reasons. "It allows people to have a voice in the local area, can influence decision makers, and also allows people to use their skills to give back to the community and get involved in new projects or ideas," she says.
Volunteering can be a rewarding experience both personally and professionally. By using your skills and knowledge to help others, you can make a positive impact on your community while also gaining valuable experience and knowledge. So why not follow Rachael's lead and start volunteering today?
