Working mainly from home, but also making regular visits to the Hall, this is a very hands-on role, but a great opportunity to give something back to the Community by offering your expertise and skills, and to take on a new challenge to take Morton Hall Community Centre forward in its 80th year with your new ideas and renewed energy. (This thriving, non-profit making Community Centre, is self-financing, and used by many regular groups throughout the week for the benefit of the local community.
There is currently an enthusiastic Management Team of Seven Volunteer Trustees who have various skill sets and areas of expertise, lead by our most recent Chair who now wishes to step down after three years in this role. Therefore the need for a new Chair who would take on this role from mid-May.
The Charity has no paid staff, other than a Contract Cleaning service, relies on its Volunteers for all the tasks that are required, such as opening and closing, health and safety checks, website design, finance and financial advice. local government initiatives, and to run our monthly Community Coffee Morning.
The Chair plans and runs the bi-monthly meetings, liaises with other Community Groups such as Village Halls, the CVS, Cheshire Connect. Keeps everyone up to date with legislation, emails, forthcoming changes and requirements, looks after building aspects and plans and organises everything from the day to day aspects such as heating, repairs, oversees health and safety, and looks for finance opportunities, and keeps all records up to date, as well as problem solving. Also keeps an important eye on finance, on supplies and does some purchasing as and when required, and recruits and trains our Volunteers. In fact all aspects of the running of the Hall, including taking one-off bookings. Last of all marketing, publicity, and promotions.
Morton Hall Community Centre is Macclesfield's Hidden Gem, a heritage building,and it must be kept going for the benefit of the local community. It's a big responsibility but enjoyable and worthwhile, and there is now a good Management team who will also offer their support and expertise.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

Life Experiences and Expertise ideally from a Business or Education background
Enthusiasm, time and patience and a willingness for Morton Hall Community Centre to be Sustained For the Future.
Good Customer Care Skills
Willing to Network with other organisations
Good Organisational and Time Management Skills
Marketing Experience would be desirable, but is not essential
