Smile Group was set up in 2011 by Ruth Eglin and Natalie Nuttall who had personal experience of postnatal depression and anxiety and saw a glaring gap in community support. The registered charity now operates weekly support groups out of three children's centres in Cheshire East, as well as counselling and 1-1 home visits, thanks to funding from Comic Relief. Smile is a member of the Perinatal Mental Health Partnership, which is part of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance. The Smile team has featured on BBC Breakfast, ITV Lorraine and Radio 4 Woman's Hour as part of its thought leadership work in perinatal mental health.
