MBSS is seeking volunteer counsellors or skilled listeners to join our service which provides one-to-one support to bereaved adults, usually in the clients' own homes. We are based in Macclesfield but covers a large area of East Cheshire.

Qualified counsellors and experienced listeners visit adult clients in their homes to advise and support them through their bereavement, for as long as it takes.

MBSS is looking for experienced people who can work as part of their supportive team.
The team meets on the first Wednesday of each month, a requirement for all volunteers. Supervision, ongoing training and good support is provided to all volunteers.
MBSS is linked with Macclesfield District General hospital and also gets referrals from GPs, other agencies and self-referrals.

Counsellors must be qualified or have equivalent experience.

35p per mile, return transfer from volunteer's home to client's.

What support is available for the volunteer?:

Lone working policy very important with this type of volunteering so policies and procedures are in place to keep volunteers safe. A monthly group meeting is held to provide support to volunteers as well as one-to-one peer mentoring.
