Who are CVS Cheshire East?

CVS (Community & Voluntary Services) Cheshire East is a Registered Charity and Local Infrastructure Organisation (LIO) whose vision is:

To enable strong empowered organisations that make a difference in our community

Our History

CVS Cheshire East was formed in January 2010 creating one organisation that supported the Voluntary and Community sector across Cheshire East.

It was created from the merger of 3 previous organisations; Crewe & Nantwich Voluntary Action, Congleton District Voluntary Action and Macclesfield & District CVS.

What do we do?

As the Local Infrastructure Organisation for Cheshire East, CVSCE are an independent organisation which acts as a connector, enabler, advisor and advocate for VCFSE organisations across the county. We support networks and partnership working and we have an intermediary role, supporting and facilitating joint working between voluntary and community groups and with statutory bodies; helping to ensure that the interests and concerns of the voluntary and community sector are properly represented.

We provide resources and advice to enable capacity building and the support of volunteers in local organisations of all sizes, from grass roots to the local branches of large national charities, from those just starting up, to organisations that are already well established. We are committed to equal opportunities and to making our services relevant, accessible and inclusive for all, supporting the development of a vibrant, effective and influential voluntary and community sector across Cheshire East.

CVS Cheshire East is a registered charity (no.1132927) and a Company Limited by Guarantee (no. 07019841) and our active membership is drawn from over 2000 local voluntary & community groups. We are a member of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) and we work closely with other NAVCA members both locally and nationally.
