Speaking Up Speaking Out calls on supporters nationwide to help secure the future of our vital community services.
As a community support charity dedicated to supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or Autism, SUSO is facing an urgent crisis. With rising operational costs, increased demand for our services, and a decline in funding, we need immediate support to continue making a difference in the lives of those who rely on us.
There are three key factors impacting SUSO and similar community-focused charities:
Inflationary pressures: Utilities and operational costs have surged, impacting our ability to maintain facilities and support programs.
Decreased funding: Economic pressures have reduced individual and corporate donations, impacting critical services.
Rising demand: More families are turning to SUSO for essential support and resources.
Call to Action:
SUSO has only until March to stabilise our financial situation to ensure we can continue providing these essential services. We are launching an appeal to our supporters and the public to help us overcome this challenge. Your generosity will ensure we can keep supporting families in our community, offering everything from social assistance, educational programs, Advocacy and mental health resources.
About Speaking Up Speaking Out:
Since its founding in 2005, SUSO has been committed to:
reducing isolation by creating opportunities for social connection
increasing skills and confidence
creating new opportunities
improving health and well-being
increasing awareness of the abilities and needs of people with learning disabilities and or Autism.
Jill Schofield, Speaking Up Speaking Out Chief Officer, says:
“It’s devastating to consider that our doors may soon close on those who rely on us every day. This would not only impact individuals and the community we serve, but also place additional strain on other organisations and health services in our area. We are calling on everyone who believes in our mission to stand with us now.”
