Launch of Cheshire Compact Event - 14th September
Over the past 12 months the Police & Crime Commissioner for Cheshire and CVS Cheshire East, Chester VA, Halton & St Helens VCA, and Warrington VA have been working to develop a Compact for the Commissioner’s work with the Voluntary, Community and Faith sector in Cheshire.
Following on from previous events, we would like to invite you to attend the launch of the Cheshire Compact entitled “Making a positive difference to keeping the communities of Cheshire safe"
The event will be held on Monday 14th September at 1pm in Halton & St Helens VCA offices at St Maries Church, Lugsdale Road, Widnes, WA8 6DB.

Your Space 'Meet the Funder' Event
Bookings are coming in quickly for our 'Meet the Funder' event taking place on Wednesday 14th October at Nantwich Town Football Club. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet with a range of funders to hear about their grant schemes and discuss your funding needs. This event is free to all CVS Cheshire East member organisations and just £10 for non-members.

CVS Cheshire East will be at the Sandbach Today event on Saturday, 19th September between 9.30am and 1.00pm at St Mary's Church Hall, Sandbach.
Come and say hello and take a chance to see what else is happening in the community of Sandbach. This year, there will also be a showcase of the great local youth groups on the cobble square outside the Church Hall.
Funding News
Imminent Deadlines:
WREN Community Fund - Funding between £2,000 and £50,000 for environmental and community building projects. Deadline 5pm, 30th September 2015.

MSE Charity - Funding of up to £5,000 for financial literacy projects. Deadline is likely to be 30th September 2015 or when 40 applications have been received.

Adult Services Innovation Fund - Funding of up to £10,000 for projects that support health and wellbeing. Deadline 30th September 2015.

Latest Funds:
The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund - Funding for both research and projects in the area of learning disability and to aid the care and relief of those affected by learning disability. They fund projects for children or adults considered to have severe learning difficulties, together with autism.
Applications will only be considered from voluntary organisations which are registered charities or are associated with a registered charity. Schools and Parent Teacher Associations and Industrial & Provident Societies can also apply.
Funding ranges in value from £250 to £150,000. Applications for project funding for £10,000 or less can be submitted at any time.
The deadline for project funding in excess of £10,000 is 1st December 2015.
The next deadline for research funding is 1st February 2016.

Sport England - Protecting Playing Fields Programme (PPF) - PPF provide grants of between £10,000 and £65,000 for projects that provide new playing fields, bring into use disused playing fields or improve existing playing fields in order to establish and/or host a community club-schools link.
Applications can be submitted by voluntary or community organisations, local authorities, sports clubs, playing field associations, charities and schools. The closing date for applications is 9th November 2015.

Grants for Places of Worship (England) - The Heritage Lottery Fund has grants of £10,000-£250,000 available for Grade I and Grade II listed places of worship in England to fund urgent structural repairs and help to make them better places for everyone to visit. As part of the repair project, HLF can also fund improvements to facilities and work that helps more people get involved with these buildings.
Applications go through a two-round process so applicants can apply at an early project stage and get an idea of whether you're likely to receive a grant. The next deadline for applications is 17th November 2015.

Spotlight Vacancies
CVS Cheshire East are working with CWP NHS to establish some groups to help those in recovery from drug addiction. The aim of these groups is to provide a safe, supportive, inclusive and fun atmosphere to further their recovery. One of which is a fishing group. This group will meet once a month to plan a fishing expedition and then meet later that month to fish.
We are looking for someone experienced in fishing who can help train and support participants and work alongside CVS Cheshire East to establish this group. Apply here
Crewe Rotary Club
Each December for the last forty years the Rotary Club of Crewe has provided a Santa sleigh round the streets of Crewe & Wistaston during three weeks in December.
They depend heavily on volunteers helping them.
If you feel you could provide and drive a towing vehicle one evening or go along with some friends to help them with their collection then please email ewangriffiths@yahoo.co.uk who will provide the programme so you can choose which evening you would like to help.

The Voice of the Sector
Raise your Voice
If you work, volunteer or have an interest in the Voluntary, Community & Faith Sector and have an issue or problem that you would like to raise, please let us know.
The Voice team will then conduct research and bring issues to the Cross Sector Working Group who will work to raise or solve the issue on your behalf.

A New Strategy for Sport: National Consultation
